What do you expect when you partner with a vendor to deliver a service? If positive results are wishful thinking, you should consider the consequences. As a vendor, Health Market Science will always extol potential virtues of our products and services, but ultimately we will be measured by one thing: results. When it comes to provider enrollment and reducing fraud in Medicaid and Medicare, results are not only expected; results are critical to reducing the costs associated with these services - and CMS knows this too well.
In a recent Washington Post article about programs the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is deploying to prevent fraudulent payments to healthcare providers, a representative from CMS is quoted referencing the accountability to Congress: “With the mandates…also came the funding for this issue, [and] with that of course, comes the transparency and the wish to know exactly what’s going on and looking for results.”
CMS has recently invested more than $100 million with contractors to support these key services, so the expectation for results is high. Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, can be found in this short video highlighting some of the early dividends paid by this valuable program. While Health Market Science’s role in this program is not mentioned, our Provider MasterFile data services underlie this effort, driving results expected from these initiatives.
Health Market Science has been tracking CMS call letters and other healthcare regulatory measures that impact our clients’ in order to focus solutions that gain results for our customers. It is imperative that healthcare organizations arm themselves with reliable data analysis and services, and we see these efforts achieving very positive results in a multitude of business applications.
