Brief description of position:
As a member of the technology team, the Technical Lead is responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of multiple HMS production applications, the design and implement of new systems, and the management of a small group of developers.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Creating software development plans and schedules from requirements
- Ensuring development is completed on time and with features fully implemented
- Leading small teams of developers to implement features and systems that add value to the HMS business
- Developing deep technical knowledge of multiple HMS applications and core technologies
- Creating and reviewing software designs
- Maintaining and supporting production applications
- Guiding developers use of HMS software best practices on all application development
- Conducting code reviews and reviewing software documentation
- Establishing career plans and conducting performance reviews for direct reports
- Coordination with Development Manager, Project Managers, QA Leads and Infrastructure Leads
- Participating in evaluation of new technologies and knowledge transfer
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Computer Science or related field plus 7 or more years of industry experience
- J2EE experience including: EJB, Servlets, JSP, JMS, JDBC, and JAAS
- Oracle, SQL, or similar RDBMS
- Code editors and version control systems
- OOA/D experience
- Test driven development
- Experience in a supervisory role
Desired Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of software development methodologies
- Experience with design patterns
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution capabilities
