CBI’s 3rd Annual West Coast Forum on Sunshine, State Laws and Aggregate Spend
April 16, 2012 - 8:00am - April 17, 2012 - 6:00pm
Health Market Science's Solution Director Darryl Williams will be speaking:
Upstream, Downstream. Determining the path of least resistance on the road to transparency and compliance.
Although the review and wrangling with industry and political stakeholders appears dormant, CMS will likely have a final rule on Sunshine reporting in perhaps the third or fourth quarter of 2012. While some pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers scramble to stand-up data collection and reporting systems, others are taking this short lived opportunity to examine their data management approach in upstream (point of data capture) and downstream (point of expense and recipient integration/aggregation) systems and processes.
Bottom line, the more time you spend upfront discovering, defining, and validating aggregate spend data element requirements, the fewer costly changes you face down the road.
Experience shows proactively integrating data into upstream source systems can reduce time-consuming data remediation activities downstream. Yet, changing the company culture to be more proactive in properly documenting spend data may be your biggest challenge.
This presentation will outline best practices based on experience with top tier pharma and medical device companies implementing enterprise level aggregate spend solutions beyond software. The audience will hear about:
- Pragmatic options that impact business as usual
- Aligning technology with organizational behavior
- Improving compliance and reducing risk of exposure
- Meeting transparency requirements without draining precious resources
