Medical claims data provides a powerful tool to drive commercial success in oncology. Using a large medical claims database with over 500 million medical claims and 100 million patients in a 12 month period, we will present several case studies in breast cancer relevant to oncology commercial teams:
- Combining information on physician level patient volume, physician-to-physician relationships based on shared patients, and physician publication data to find national and regional key opinion leaders.
- More precise targeting of oncologists based on their volumes of early and late-stage (metastatic) patients.
- Targeting oncologists based on utilization of infused therapies (J-codes) specific to the type of cancer of interest – e.g. breast cancer
- Segmenting oncologists based on their practice of personalized medicine – as measured by the volume of molecular diagnostic tests ordered or performed.
